Family Fun on BHI
Last year, I went to Bald Head Island for a girls trip. This year, we decided to bring all of the families. What a week!
It wouldn’t be NNA if I didn’t keep it real. So I have to say, it got off to a bit of a rough start and we continued to have our moments throughout the week. 8 adults and 8 kids, 3 and under, in two side-by-side houses for a full week was a true test of everyone’s patience and sanity. But, I’m happy to report, we all made it out alive and with some amazing memories (and photos) that we’ll tell (and show) these kids for the rest of our lives. That is, until they tell us to stop. Even then, we probably won’t. Below, our Bald Head family photo album…
Ferry rides are even more fun with friends.
Gray was waiting for us to arrive. (So was his Mama. With wine. After a taxi, to a plane, to a taxi, to a ferry to a golf cart, it was needed.)
And, of course, there were both adult and kids welcome bags.
The motley crew. Minus two.
Nailed our kiss cam shot complete with coordinating pom poms.
First stop: Nye’s Cream. So good.
Coralling this crew was comical, at best.
The beach was so beautiful and, surprisingly relaxing, even given our group.
Take us back!
There’s two pools on BHI, Shoal’s Club and Bald Head Island Club. The latter has this really fun splash pad.
It wouldn’t be our crew without a theme night. We chose “western” this go round.
We love a good party prop and costume.
Grady DIYed some “jorts” and adopted other children.
My daughter picked out a pink bandana and then refused to wear it, throwing herself to the floor, kicking and screaming when I tried to put it on her. That was fun.
Instagram ops ensued.
Honey’s BBQ, new to the island this year, was devoured. It was so good, even this Texan approved.
We have such fun dads in this group. Not a dull, anti-participatory one.
And then Hap broke out “The Daddle”, which was a huge hit. For the kids. The fathers were a bit banged up after that.
