The (Italian) Trip of a Lifetime with the Best Souvenir Ever

Two years ago, my husband and I were care-free, wine, cheese and bread-filled and deliriously happy. We were also rested, tan and skinny. That is, until we ate our weight in pizza.

Let’s Throwback Thursday to Lake Como, the Amalfi Coast and Rome. To the good life. And exactly 9 months later when we had our baby girl, making it an even better one.

I highly recommend stepping off the plane in Lake Como, dropping your bags and heading straight to Harry’s Bar for an iconic Bellini. Or, if there’s a freak rainstorm like we had, countless champers cocktails.

If you feel like splurging (You are in Clooney’s Como after all!), stay at the Villa D’Este. Swoon.

If not, no worries, make a reservation for dinner at The Grill and enjoy the impeccable service and superior views while there. After dinner, sip a Sgroppino as you listen to some live music in the resort’s Bar Canova.

The Villa’s Lasagnette with lobster and asparagus. Exquisite.

Beautiful Bellagio.

Take the funicolare up to Brunate from Como.

The view is worth the ride.

Making your way to Tremezzo is a must for the best pizza in the way only small town Italy can do. Balognett is off-the-path, farm-to-table and un-for-gettable. The sweet little lady that grows the veggies, makes the pies (with so much amore), greets and serves you just adds to the ambience.

One last look at the lake before we headed south to…

Picturesque Positano!

I fell in love. With my husband (again), the food, but mostly the view. GOR-GEOUS.
