Apple Picking Party

And then it was back to our house to bake!

Let the nudist colony commence!

I love the way the table turned out. (It’s my same trusty tables and stools from IKEA that I used at this party and this party.) But the best part? I got most of the stuff in the dollar bing from Target! Okay, they were $3 but still. I cannot find the table runners, wire baskets or chalk boards online to link so just head to good old Tarjay and pray they still have them there! The rest is from Amazon! Pie dishes, rolling pins, whisks and wooden spoons, which I wrote their names on for their place settings. Each child took their own set home.

I bought a piece of wood at Home Depot, spray painted it white and then added a half-finished grid to make it more rustic looking and paired with red and green apples for a DIY Tic-Tac-Toe board.

I bought this bean bag toss game and spray painted it white and added an “F” (for the Friedman Family) to fit the aesthetic and give it a custom look. (For those who saw my Stories, you know this photo was done in post. 😉

Jess and Brooke peeled and chopped our bounty.

Time to get our bake on! I prepped this pie dough recipe (I doubled it and divided up into 7 personal pies) the night before.

Amanda and I prepped the apples on the stove with butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar and flour while the kids continued to play. When they were ready, it was time to fill!

They loved the entire process.

The aftermath. I have to say, I think they’re neater bakers than I am.

The presentation left a bit to be desired though… Pies only parents could love.

But, man, did they taste good.

It was a perfectly imperfect, messy, sweaty, muddy, marvelous “fall” day with our fox family. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
