Nursery Reveal
Over a year ago, I posted Ollie’s inspiration board for his nursery. We had yet to move, it was all ahead of us and I couldn’t wait to decorate his first room. More importantly, I was so excited (and anxious) about his arrival after a bit of a rough road. Well, we all know he’s here, thriving and I can’t believe I haven’t gotten it together enough yet (he’s 10 months!) to shoot and post his nursery. Then again, considering both the source and the year we’ve had (move, renovation, new mom of two, new school, surgery for me, surgery for Oliver, Lilly’s struggles, issues with childcare and Zach’s new job, to name just a few), I can.
But, without further adieu, the little prince’s quarters…
For Lilly’s nursery, I went against the grain. There wasn’t an inch of pink. Fast forward five years later, and my home is covered in it. Since Oliver is our last child, I wanted to go a bit more classic.
Above his Restoration Hardware dresser, which was his sister’s, we hung a little mirror for him to, eventually, look into and study his developing features, a photo of his biggest fan “holding his hand” for the first time in a frame we purchased in Paris and a custom print that says “I love you more than all the stars” since there are thousands that speckle his walls.
We started out with the changing pad cover above and below, both of which I really liked.
But then I did a partnership with Skip Hop, one of our favorite brands for everything baby, and discovered the genius of the rubber changing pad, where you wipe and go. No need for multiple covers, stripping and washing, which, with a boy is game changing!
These Pottery Barn Kids pillows are, unfortunately, no longer available but I love the clean, sophisticated look they bring to the otherwise fairly infant space.
I originally ordered panel curtains in the same style but I felt like they swallowed up the small room so I replaced them with the Romans, which I love. Rainbow, airplane, book and elephant (which I gave to my nephew when he was born and he gifted back to us for my son’s birth) adorn little staggered shelves.
Bin is Pehr (who we also did a giveaway with), Moon, cloud and dog are Meri Meri, another favorite brand, Jacques the Hippo is by bla bla and the airplane and bus are from one of Zach’s colleague’s and his wife who are so sweet, knew I loved the store Norman & Jules and shopped there because of that for Oliver’s baby gift .
The room was almost all ready but I couldn’t decide what to put above his crib. I thought about a big painting or picture but was worried he’d pull it down and hurt himself. I already did a gallery collection above his dresser and opted against a big monogram. Then I found this name banner and the room finally felt complete.
Well, almost. We still have to hang this print (we did a giveaway to three @momecdotes members) for our rainbow baby.
The Dash & Albert rug is super soft and padded, perfect for my new crawler.
And that’s it! Our baby boy’s nursery. Oliver says, “come visit!”
