Little Monsters Party
We went with pastels for Lilly’s Halloween party so I planned on going a little more traditional with Oliver’s. And I did with the palette but when I saw these plates, I had my theme. And boy did I run with it! Eyeballs everywhere, which is something my friend tells her preteen son and I will be borrowing for my kids.
So the colors became black, white, orange and teal with a pop of pink.
For kids parties, I love using clear plastic cups with lids and whimsical and colorful plastic straws. I found these “boo” straws in the Target dollar bin that were perfect for the palette. I can’t find a link but there are similar styles and colors here.
And you know I love a personalized moment. These little tin pails (with ghost faces on the other side) are also from my favorite dollar bin and the place that takes all of my money. I used black stick on letters that I already had to complete the favor/place setting.
The ghost napkins areĀ from the costume swap party I threw five years ago. See Zach? I do use things again! The fun little headbands, like the plates, are from a new favorite find, Daydream Society.
The eyeball plates slay me. So funny. To add a little variety, I used these black and white stripe napkins as well.
Also a blast from the past, these popcorn containers. Since they’re also 5 years old (but never used), they’re no longer available, but there are similar ones here.
I found these giant stick on eyeballs and knew they would pop so well with plain teal gift bags.
I didn’t want to do candy as favors for 4-year-olds. They’ll be getting enough of that. Plus, I served cupcakes with edible eyeballs, naturally. (I also used this candle as a cupcake topper and just didn’t light it. I forgot to take photos of the cupcakes darn it.) I love gifting something the kids can take home and actually play with. We’re big into water beads around here. They make the perfect sensory activity. I just hope the other moms agree. They’re Zach’s worst nightmare so we keep them outside and away from his grass! Because I’m a geek and adore alliteration (see what I did there?), I bought these plastic containers filled them with Halloween themed water beads, used a white paint pen and “Boo Beads” were coined.
For one of the party activities, I found this cute mummy bowling set (pin shown here).
What’s a Halloween party without painting some pumpkins? What’s a crazy lady party without keeping the pumpkins and paint on theme? Cute little monster tattoo on the cutest little arm.
This age group is perfect for a sensory table station (bins here) at parties. We’ve done everything from car and puppy washes, to little digs and excavator sites, to wild flower bins and Frozen ice cube melts. Lilly and her friends always get in on the action too. For this party, I added more water beads and kinetic sand (green, orange and white) with themed toys and props.
The kids and I love decorating their playhouse for the holidays. We’ve done Christmas and a summer lemonade party. It was also Oliver’s dog house and auto body shop (car party blog post to come). This year: The bat barn.
These lovely little monsters had a great time and so did their mamas!
