Design Board
Despite doing the best with what I had (and two makeovers: a winter and a spring look), I’m so excited to finally get my own office! Working from home, it’s kind of a necessity. I can’t wait to have space, organization and inspiration instead of being crammed into the corner of my kitchen- and right next to my daughter’s ever-expanding toy collection- in my dark apartment in NYC.
In our new house, I’m converting the former dining room into my office (and turning the previous sitting/sunroom into the dining room- I think it’s a better, more functional and appropriate use of the space. I hope I’m right!). It’s one of the front rooms on the first floor and has tons of character (complete with a window seat!) and light. It’s a relatively large room and will serve as more than just my desk space; we’re adding a sitting area to take meetings or relax and read a book and there will be some sort of craft area and kids table so they can get creative in there too. I can’t wait to see what the new space sparks. But, first, the design…
I’m thinking pink, which is so unlike me. I avoided it at all costs when I had a little girl, even turning her nursery into a purple and gray oasis. But, over the last several years, it’s grown on me and I’ve really started to embrace it, even using it as the main color in Lilly’s latest room. There’s going to be a lot of blue (my all-time favorite color, Zach’s too) and white in the house so I think it’s nice to add some pops of pink in this room to set it apart while still including some blues to balance it with the rest of the house. Below are some current favorite finds.
I’m giving love to my fellow blogger babes with this Glitter Guide rug…
and Cupcakes and Cashmere pillow, all from Lulu & Georgia.
And I’m loving this light fixture from West Elm…
and this lamp from Kate Spade Home.
I think they all pair perfectly with this marble-topped table from Pottery Barn. I love all the brass accents, especially when paired with the dusty rose shades of pink.
And I’m obsessed with this Serena & Lily wallpaper that will likely go on the top two-thirds of the room with either white or blue paint below, it ties in perfectly with the rug and the rest of the house.
