Game Night
Our group loves a good game so when we were talking about how to spend our Fourth of July, and the first of our days together out in the Hamptons, a game night seemed like a natural- and fun- fit. And a spontaneous one at that. We threw this together pretty last minute and are already thinking about how we can up the ante next time.
My assistant.
I wanted to spray paint the circles directly on the grass but, since we’re renters, figured it was best to cut them out instead. Someday I’ll have a semi-permanent lawn Twister. Along with a million other things on my dream house wish list!
I left the Jenga pieces out throughout the day so my friends could write on a few whenever inspiration struck. We then placed them in a covered canister so no one saw what the others wrote.
Pillow cases played the part of potato sacks.
For such a competitive group, a giant score board was necessary.
As well as our mascot, the glorious red fox.
It’s clearly been a hundred years since I’ve played Twister and I’m losing brain cells at a rapid rate because I thought we were all supposed to go at the same time, which resulted in a sweaty yoga session and no winners or losers.
For the guys turn, I got it right. But when that still wasn’t exciting enough, we tossed the spinner and I called out the shots. (Insert maniacal laugh here.)
There’s something so gratifying about watching grown men struggle at a kids game.
At least for me. Poor little Gray wasn’t so into it.
Next up, racing.
The winners. I blame the bump for the unfair advantage.
Then it was time to get serious and do some surgery.
Operation after a few drinks and some tight scores, is seriously fun. As is social Jenga.
Some of the pieces- and most of the photos- cannot be shown.
Suffice it to say, it was a ridiculously fun night. I can’t recommend it enough.
But, next time, I’m making these or ordering these or these for dessert!
Thanks to Hasbro for providing the games!
[…] was so much easier (and more fun!) to stay in, swim, cook and entertain (as evidenced by our 4th, game night, mermaid sprinkle and luau). Therefore, this is less of a hot spot guide and more of a summer […]
