Bump date: 32 Weeks
8 weeks. 8 weeks to go. Eight is an interesting number for us. First, there’s a lot of significance around it and Lilly’s birth. And, now, with only eight weeks to go, on April twenty-eighth, we’ve made one of the biggest changes in our lives. When I started this journey last May and was 8 weeks along, I was cavalier, complaining about morning sickness and not at all aware of what was to come. A week and a half later, as many of you know, I lost that baby. My next, current pregnancy passing each week was a major milestone. 8 was no different. And I certainly never expected I’d make it to only 8 weeks to go. That seemed insurmountable. I’m so grateful to be here and am hopeful I make it to the end, safely delivering a healthy baby. This long, difficult, emotional process has been worth it and it’s almost within in reach. We’re so close, she says as she knocks wood.
But enough serious stuff, let’s talk about the details. We’ve already established that I’m huge and I’ve only gotten bigger. It’s now safe to say, I waddle. Just like with Lilly, I have sciatica, starting at my left lower back and, when it spasms, ricochets up and down the own left side, making it painful to sit, walk, get up and off the floor, bed, couch and chairs. You know, basically everything. I’m Despite the extra weight, my actually stomach is far less big with baby boy than it was with Lilly. With her, I was carrying all around and not that far out. With him, my bump is rather small but protruding so my side profile is rather wide. And my skin is stretching and being pulled down, which is quite painful so my doctor recommended this maternity belt, which is super attractive but quite effective so I’ve been sporting it underneath my clothes.
Like his sister, he does not stop moving. He’s extremely active. There’s very few periods I feel him still or sleeping and it’s never at night. Just when I’m ready to pass out, he’s up partying. He’s currently 4lbs and the size of a head of lettuce. We’ve narrowed it down to two names but are leaning more strongly to one over the other. Every once in awhile, I’ll throw out a curve ball, Zach nixes it and we go back to our favorite. I still can’t believe I’m having a boy- or a second, for that matter. And I’m slightly terrified about starting all over again as we’ve gotten into such a good groove with Lilly, becoming more self-sufficient and are completely out of the baby stage. But there’s no turning back now!
Despite the nerves, fears, emotion, I truly can’t wait for his arrival and our new life as a family of four. Just let me completely set up the new house and throw her birthday party first please!
