The Beaches of 30-A
A wise man once said, “If you take the kids, it’s a trip. If you don’t, it’s a vacation.” That man happens to be my father-in-law. He also happens to be one of the best, most generous, supportive and positive people I know. But I digress…
Back to the “vacation”. This was most definitely a trip. But in the best way. Our days were filled with lots of laughter. Bike rides, boogie boards and bug bites. Sunshine and seafood. Shopping trips and spa retreats. Daily ice cream, nightly wine… It was a fantastic time. So good, we’re already talking about next year’s visit.
Here, some (more) highlights…
The beaches of 30-A are dusted with white sand and emerald waves, creating a stunning landscape and beautiful backdrop to a cluster of quintessential beach towns. Among them, Santa Rosa Beach. There, you’ll find WaterColor Inn & Resort. It doesn’t get more family friendly than that.
Biking and golf carting are the main modes of transport. Below, bikes parked outside the entrance to Rosemary Beach.
The entrance to Alys Beach. How gorgeous!
Lord knows I love a little town with a picturesque post office.
The houses have such charm.
Both inside…
…and out.
Now, let’s talk the important stuff, shall we? Food. And drink. And more food.
Breakfast by porch swing. Every morning. We miss that swing.
The WaterColor Rita bar makes a pretty good (and strong!) marg.
If you’re not saddled up to a pool bar, you must have happy hour at Bud & Alley’s, the iconic 30-A beach bar.
The best grouper and lobster I’ve ever had were prepared perfectly at Café Thirty-A.
If you’re looking to dine at home, Goatfeathers is the best- and cutest- little fish market for fresh finds for home-cooked seafood suppers after a day outdoors.
For dessert, some of the best cookies I’ve ever eaten are white chocolate coconut cookies by Chanticleer Eatery in Grayton Beach.
Food trucks have arrived in Seaside and the visitors couldn’t be happier.
For shaved ice in every conceivable flavor and homemade custard, head to Frost Bites.
If it’s ice cream you’re after, hit up Heavenly, also in Seaside. They carry Blue Bell. We’re a Blue Bell or bust family.
Despite the look on Lilly’s face, she (and her parents) had a fantastic “trip”. So good, who had time to stop for posed pictures?!
The end…
That is, until next year!
