8 Things to Do with Your Halloween Candy
Are you Halloweened out yet? I’m already thinking post-pumpkins! You’re likely already overloaded with sweets and we haven’t even reached actual trick or treating yet! It’s madness. Well, after confiscating that candy and doling out a little per lunch, don’t toss it. Below, 8 ideas for what to do with all that sugar…
1. BARK
We just made this cute dessert, favor and gift at my costume swap party and it was a huge hit! Granted, you’re eating even more chocolate but it’s a fresh presentation and you give most away. I boxed and bagged it up for teachers, doormen, mailmen and crossing guards too!
2. TRAIL MIX
Don’t toss those M&M’s! Add some nuts and healthy it up a bit!
3. COOKIES
Make Thumbprint cookies with Hershey’s Kisses, Peanut Butter Cup cookies, really anything cookies. Again, more sweets. But one treat and give rest away or freeze.
4. FREEZE IT
Speaking of freezing, throughout the year, break it out for milkshakes, sundaes, cookie dough…
5. MELT IT
Turn in into chocolate fondue for a fun family night dinner or put it into molds with your kids (Easter Bunny? Santa?) and freeze or gift.
6. SAVE IT
What to put in those advent calendars and on the gingerbread houses? Or even a holiday piñata? DIY a Santa, stocking or snowman with your kids! They’ll have a blast making it- and breaking it!
7. DONATE IT
Send it to the troops, homeless shelters, hospitals, fire or police stations, shelters, orphanages. Or participate in a buyback program at participating dentist offices. Involve your kids and make them a part of giving back. Have them write a letter, draw a picture, add photos from Halloween and have them drop it off or mail it out with you.
8. ADULT PARTY
Who says the candy has to be for kids? At your next ladies night or couples evening, incorporate candy! Chocolate martinis, a chocolate flavored Black or White Russian or even a mocha coffee drink after dinner.
